Divine Dreadlocks prices: $60/hr.
Average time for full head of new dreads: 6-10hrs. = $360 to $600
Products used: None.
Work after to keep/create tight dreads: none.

Comparison:

Hairdresser's Prices: $80-120/hr.
Average time for full head of new dreads: 6-8hrs.
Products used: Chemicals (perming solution),wax.
Work after to keep/create tight dreads: palm rolling with wax every week for 6-12mths.


Other dread makers: times & prices vary ($50-$100/hr) but if they take less than 5hrs to make a full head & use a crochet hook, they are not locking the whole dread throroughly & dreads may loosen!

TIME INFO: The time it takes to make dreads varies depending on the length, thickness & amount of hair you have, as well as how many dreads you want, Eg: how thick or thin you want them. The average head takes 7-10hrs, but people with a lot of thick hair or long hair of any thickness will usually take a bit longer. The longest time for a full head has been 15hrs, where the customer had a lot of very thick short hair that was harder to tease than longer hair. The shortest time was 5 hrs for a girl who wanted them done loosely & had dry coloured hair (which locks easily).

I'D NEVER GO TO A HAIRDRESSER'S TO GET DREADS AGAIN!

Mistake: He went to a hairdressers & got his dreads made with chemicals (perm solution) & pipecleaners.

Truth: This method cannot permanently tightly lock hair in one sitting. You will walk out of the salon with dreads, but to keep them requires a lot of work & there is no guarentee they'll stay.
His Comment: The hairdresser's told me I had to 'train' my new dreadlocks. This meant rubbing them with wax often & spending a lot of time on them. If I knew that it would take so much work to keep my dreads nice after they'd been made with this method then I'd never have gotten them done there in the first place. The first visit they spent 6-7hours & it cost about $750. My dreads were getting loose & messy after 2weeks so I rang them & they booked me in for some maintenance. I spent another $100 & a week later experienced the same problem..........dreads getting loose.

His Mission: Find someone who knows how to fix his loose messy poorly made dreads and turn them into permanent, neat, tight locks that he wont have to be precious with or 'train' to get them to stay.
Solution: Meeting Ema of DIVINE DREADLOCKS in Byron Bay, who works with a crochet hook and nothing else. Ema worked on the soft loose dreads & re-locked them till they were nice & tight. Now they'll stay for as long as he wants them and wont need any waxing or maintenace except for mandatory occasional regrowth.
